While it is well-accepted that regular exercise is extremely beneficial for people with Type II Diabetes, there has been some debate as to what type of exercise is best. Some doctors recommend aerobic exercise for its cardiovascular benefits, while other doctors recommend resistance training to stimulate muscles to promote the uptake of glucose into the tissues. As discussed in the following video, a recent study found that both types of exercise are about equally beneficial, but combining the two types of exercise actually works about twice as well for controlling blood sugar than either type alone.
